Art Project at The Church of St. Peter & St. Paul in Abington Park.
Members of our woodworking group have been designing and working on an art project to feature in the grounds of The Church of St. Peter & St. Paul in Abington Park. The church is well-known locally for its art display in its grounds and our woodworking group have been asked to design the next installation as part of their skills and personal development programme.
The ‘Tree of Hope’ has been visualised by members of our woodworking group and supported by builder and designer Bob Keal from Bob’s Barn Creations, group members are developing the project from design to installation. Our woodworking group are learning essential skills such as design, project planning, health and safety and installation, helping give them new opportunities and skills.
The Church will be displaying the ‘Tree of Hope’ in their garden, along with a ‘Stories Trail’ around their garden about individuals overcoming homelessness and adversity. The project will span seven months and members of the public will be encouraged to contribute to the installation by writing ‘messages of hope’ on handcrafted wooden leaves and ribbons throughout the year.
The project will finish at the church’s Harvest service this autumn, the tree becoming a visual display of compassion for people in the community who may be struggling and highlighting the value of support and personal development that underpins the ethics of our work.
The art installation will be revealed during The Church of St. Peter & Paul’s Mothering Sunday service, held at 10am on Sunday 30th March, Park Avenue, South Abington, Northampton, NN3 3AB.
