Sally Sheinman – Stories of Hope and Recovery

Sally Sheinman, an American artist, has been working with the Hope Centre for the last 12 months, collecting 52 personal stories of homelessness, hardship and recovery. Sheinman has created an artwork for each of the 52 weeks in the year, each artwork capturing a unique narrative of struggle, resilience, and hope.

The Artwork: Stories on Cardboard

Each artwork has been inspired by the personal experiences of our service users. The pieces are not just visually compelling; they are deeply meaningful, each serving as a window into the lives of those who have shared their journeys.

In a poignant nod to the material most commonly used by rough-sleepers for bedding, Sheinman’s artworks have been professionally printed and framed using cardboard. This choice underscores the fragility and resilience of those living on the margins of society, making the artwork more evocative and thought-provoking.

A Deeper Understanding of Identity

‘What Makes You, You?’ goes beyond a traditional art exhibition. It will prompt visitors to contemplate how factors like homelessness, addiction, and recovery shape personal identity. Sheinman’s work encourages viewers to look beyond the surface and understand the complex interplay of circumstances that define who we are.

Celebrating Individuality and Shared Humanity

The exhibition is a powerful reminder of both the individuality and commonality of the human experience. It celebrates the unique stories of those who have faced significant hardship and adversity, highlighting their resilience and strength.

Sponsorship Opportunities: Supporting Hope

In the lead up to the exhibition, businesses and individuals are invited to sponsor an artwork. For £50, sponsors can have their business details associated with one of these impactful stories, helping to raise vital funds for the Hope Centre. This initiative not only supports our crucial work but also provides an opportunity for sponsors to align themselves with a meaningful cause.

Download the brochure to choose the artwork you would like to sponsor and complete the sponsorship booking and payment form to complete your booking. Business details will be used alongside associated artwork throughout the exhibition period.
