I volunteer at the day centre as a befriender; I just go around and speak to everyone; it can be very lonely when you’re homeless.
They often come from unusual circumstances which have forced them into that situation, and they really are lost.
So my job is to pick up the thread and talk to them.
I think I do a good job if I can get someone feeling better about themselves, get them to joke and to laugh, and get them to feel like a human being again.
